What is this?

When a WhatsApp message fails, the red Failed mark shows an Error Code. This table explains the codes the platform knows, in plain words, and whether retrying can help. Codes from 200 to 299 are all permission errors.

What can I do here?

  • Look up a code and see what it means
  • Know whether to retry or fix the cause first

How to use it

Find the code from the failed message (click the red Failed mark). Temporary means it may work later — wait a few minutes and retry. Permanent means retrying won’t help; fix the cause first. The platform also records three failures of its own, which never reach WhatsApp: WhatsApp’s own codes:

Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

  • My code isn’t listed. Open the failed message and read the Reason — it carries Meta’s own explanation. If it’s unclear, contact Support with the code.
  • The same code keeps coming back. Fix the cause (see the guides below) instead of retrying.
