# Threads Publishing

> Write, schedule and track posts on your Threads profile.

## What is this?

**Threads Publishing** is where you write posts for your connected Threads profile, publish them now or schedule them, and track their status.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need a connected Threads profile ([connect one on the Channels page](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/threads/overview.md)) and the Threads permissions on your account. If the profile hasn't granted publishing, you'll be asked to **Reconnect Threads**.

## What can I do here?

* Publish a **Text**, **Image**, **Video** or **Carousel** post
* Preview the post as you write it
* Choose **Who can reply** to the post
* Add a topic tag and a link preview
* Schedule a post for later
* Track every post's status, open it on Threads, retry a failed one, or cancel a scheduled one
* See how many of today's 250 posts you've used

## How to use it

**1. Open Publishing**

Open the **Threads** group in the sidebar and click **Publishing**.

**2. Choose the post type and write it**

Pick the **Post type**, then fill it in:

| Type | What you add |
| - | - |
| **Text** | Up to 500 characters |
| **Image** | One JPEG or PNG up to 8 MB, with optional text |
| **Video** | One MP4 or MOV up to 5 minutes and 1 GB, with optional text |
| **Carousel** | 2 to 20 images or videos |

**3. Set the options**

* **Topic tag** — optional; up to 50 characters, no periods or ampersands.
* **Link preview** — text posts only. A post can contain at most 5 links.
* **Who can reply** — **Everyone**, **Profiles you follow**, **Mentioned profiles only**, **Only you**, or **Your followers**.

**4. Publish or schedule**

Click **Publish** to post straight away, or choose **Schedule for later**, pick a time and click **Schedule**. A schedule must be at least 10 minutes ahead (and no more than about 75 days).

### Track your posts

The **Posts** table lists each post with its **Type**, **Status** and **When**:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Scheduled** | Waiting for its time |
| **Queued** / **Processing** | Being sent to Threads (videos and carousels take a little longer) |
| **Published** | Live on Threads — use **Open on Threads** to view it |
| **Failed** | Threads refused it or it timed out; the reason is shown. Use **Retry** |
| **Cancelled** | You cancelled it before it went out |

The **Posts in 24 h** tile shows how many posts you've published against the limit of **250 per 24 hours**.

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **"This Threads profile has not granted publishing."** Reconnect Threads on the Channels page and approve the publishing permission.
* **A post failed.** Open the row to see the reason — common causes are an image or video that doesn't meet the size rules, or Threads rejecting the content. Fix it and click **Retry**.
* **A scheduled post didn't go out.** Check the profile still shows **Connected** — a post scheduled while the connection is expired or disconnected fails.
* **"Schedule the post at least 10 minutes ahead."** Choose a later time.
* **A carousel is rejected.** It needs between 2 and 20 items.
