# WhatsApp Pay

> Save your WhatsApp payment configuration once and take payments inside the WhatsApp chat.

## What is this?

**WhatsApp Pay** lets customers pay inside the WhatsApp chat (India, INR). You set up a payment configuration in Meta, then save it here once. Store orders, **Request payment** on a contact and the **Send Payment** automation step all use that saved account.

Unlike Stripe or Razorpay, a WhatsApp Pay account needs **no keys, webhook, automation or message templates** — Meta reports payments straight to your WhatsApp number.

## What can I do here?

* Save a WhatsApp Pay account in one step with **Fetch from WhatsApp**, or type it yourself
* Take payments in the storefront's WhatsApp Pay checkout
* Send an in-chat payment request from a contact's **Payments** tab
* Collect payment from an automation with the **Send Payment** step

## How to use it

**1. Set up the configuration in Meta**

In WhatsApp Manager, add a payment configuration for your number. The page links to it: **Add or edit configurations in WhatsApp Manager**.

**2. Open the WhatsApp Pay page**

Go to **Integrations**, click **WhatsApp Pay**, then **Connect**.

**3. Fetch your configurations**

Click **Fetch from WhatsApp**. Tick the configurations to save — each becomes a WhatsApp Pay account — then click **Save selected**.

If WhatsApp returns nothing, or the request fails, click **Enter manually** instead.

**4. Or enter it manually**

Fill in the **Payment configuration name** (the name from WhatsApp Manager), the **Payment gateway**, and the **Merchant ID** where it applies.

If WhatsApp reports the configuration as **Needs connecting** or **Needs testing**, the page shows a notice. Finish it in WhatsApp Manager before taking payments.

## Where the account is used

The account's page lists where it is used: the storefront's WhatsApp Pay checkout, **Request payment** in the inbox, and the **Send Payment** step in automations. You don't set anything up in those places except choosing the account.

## Things to know

* **INR only.** WhatsApp Pay works in Indian rupees.
* **The customer must have an open 24-hour chat** to receive an in-chat request.
* **UPI requests last at least 5½ minutes.** Meta refuses a native UPI payment that expires within five minutes, so a shorter time is raised automatically.
* **Unpaid requests expire by themselves.** A background job closes overdue requests every minute.

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **"WhatsApp did not return the configurations".** Type the configuration yourself with **Enter manually**.
* **"WhatsApp has no payment configuration for this number".** Add one in WhatsApp Manager first.
* **The customer cannot pay.** Check the configuration status in WhatsApp Manager and that the number's payments are approved by Meta.
* **The disconnected account isn't offered in pickers.** Reconnect it on this page.
