# Facebook Channel

> Connect a Facebook Page for Messenger, comments, publishing and insights.

## What is this?

This is the Facebook view of [Channels](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/channels/overview.md) — open it from the **Facebook** card, or go to `/channels?channel=facebook`. It connects a **Facebook Page** so you can answer Messenger chats in the shared inbox, automate replies to post and live-video comments, publish to the Page, and see Page insights.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Your platform administrator must have set up Facebook OAuth first, and your plan must include Facebook. If your plan's channel limit is reached, **Add new Facebook Page** is disabled.

## What can I do here?

* Connect a Facebook Page (and add more Pages)
* See the Page's health, permissions and which features are available
* Reconnect, test the connection, run diagnostics, or re-subscribe the webhook
* Disconnect the Page without losing your chats

## How to use it

### Basic use — connect a Page

1. Open **Channels → Facebook** and click **Add new Facebook Page** (or **Connect Facebook Page** if none is connected). The counter beside it is your plan's channel allowance.
2. Log in with Facebook and approve access. If login fails you'll see *Facebook login failed* — allow pop-ups and try again.
3. Under **Select a Facebook Page**, choose the Page (*No Facebook Pages found for this account* means that login manages none) and confirm.
4. The Page appears as a card. *Facebook connected — Messenger is ready for this channel* means it works; *Facebook connected, webhook pending* means messages won't arrive until the webhook is subscribed (see below).

### What the Page card shows

The Page's name and **Page ID**, a pill — **Healthy** or **Webhook Pending** — and details from Facebook when available: description, website, category, founded, tagline, **Followers**, **Token expiry** and the **Permissions** granted. **Webhook Status** tells you whether the webhook is subscribed.

**Feature Support** lists what the connection can do, each marked as supported, needing a permission, or not supported:

| Feature | What it needs |
| - | - |
| **Messenger inbox** | The messaging permission and a subscribed webhook |
| **Post and live comment automation** | Permission to read and manage engagement, and a subscribed webhook |
| **Page publishing** | The permission to manage posts |
| **Page insights** | The insights permission |
| **Webhook health** | A subscribed webhook on a healthy connection |

Using these features happens in the **Facebook** group in the sidebar — [Insights](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/facebook/facebook-insights.md), [Interaction](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/facebook/facebook-user-interaction.md) and [Publishing](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/facebook/facebook-publishing.md).

### The buttons

| Button | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Reconnect** | Log in with Facebook again to refresh the access (use it after a password change, an expired token, or when permissions are missing) |
| **Test** | Checks the connection — *Facebook connection is valid* or *Connection failed* with the reason |
| **Diagnostics** / **Hide Diagnostics** | Shows technical details to help find a problem |
| **Resubscribe Webhook** | Appears only while the webhook is pending. Click it to subscribe again — you'll see *Webhook subscribed* |
| **Disconnect** | Disconnects the Page — see below |

### Disconnect the Page

Click **Disconnect** and confirm **Disconnect Facebook Page?** You can no longer send or receive Messenger messages here. **Your chats and contacts stay**, and reconnecting brings them back. To delete the whole channel and everything in it, use **Delete Channel** ([Channels](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/channels/overview.md#delete-a-channel)).

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **Messenger messages don't arrive.** The pill says **Webhook Pending** — click **Resubscribe Webhook**, or **Reconnect**.
* **A feature shows "permission needed".** The Page didn't grant that permission — **Reconnect** and approve every permission.
* **Add new Facebook Page is disabled.** Channel limit reached or Facebook isn't in your plan.
* **Login fails.** Allow pop-ups. If it keeps failing, your administrator needs to check Facebook OAuth.
