# Storefront & Orders Tools

> Search the catalog and read products and orders.

## What is this?

Read-only tools for your catalog and orders.

These tools belong to the [Workspace MCP](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/workspace/overview.md). Each tool below shows its **Mode** (**Read** runs immediately; **Write** asks your MCP client to confirm first) and the **Permission needed** for it to appear for your key — "None" means every connected key sees it.

* Search the catalog and read a product
* List orders and read one order

## Tools

### `search_catalog`

Search this channel's product catalog by keyword. Returns up to 20 products.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `catalogs:view`

### `get_product`

Get one catalog product's details by id (from search\_catalog).

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `catalogs:view`

### `list_orders`

Storefront orders of the user's current channel, newest first: order number, status, customer, total, quantity and payment method. Filter by status.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `catalogs:view`

### `get_order`

One storefront order by id or order number (e.g. ORD-...), with its items, prices, shipping and tax.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `catalogs:view`

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **A tool I expect isn't offered.** The MCP server only offers tools whose required permission your API key's owner holds, re-checked on every call. Grant the permission shown on the tool — see [Team](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/team.md).
* **A Write tool never seems to run.** Your MCP client asks you to approve every Write tool call. Check for a pending approval prompt.
* **A call returns an error.** See [MCP errors](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/errors.md).
