# Event Tools

> Search events, check availability, and read registrations and tickets.

## What is this?

Read-only tools for Event Studio. Cancelling a registration is never offered over MCP — that stays in the dashboard.

These tools belong to the [Workspace MCP](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/workspace/overview.md). Each tool below shows its **Mode** (**Read** runs immediately; **Write** asks your MCP client to confirm first) and the **Permission needed** for it to appear for your key — "None" means every connected key sees it.

## Tools

### `search_events`

List this channel's published events.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `events:view`

### `get_event`

Get one event's details by its slug (from search\_events).

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `events:view`

### `check_event_availability`

Check remaining capacity for an event on a date (YYYY-MM-DD).

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `events:view`

### `get_registration`

List a contact's event registrations.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `events:view`

### `get_event_ticket`

Get a contact's ticket for an event.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `events:view`

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **A tool I expect isn't offered.** The MCP server only offers tools whose required permission your API key's owner holds, re-checked on every call. Grant the permission shown on the tool — see [Team](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/team.md).
* **A Write tool never seems to run.** Your MCP client asks you to approve every Write tool call. Check for a pending approval prompt.
* **A call returns an error.** See [MCP errors](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/errors.md).
