# Booking Studio Tools

> Search services, check free times, and book, move or complete bookings.

## What is this?

Tools for Booking Studio: find bookable services, check free times, read a customer's bookings, and book, move or complete a booking. Cancelling a booking is never offered over MCP.

These tools belong to the [Workspace MCP](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/workspace/overview.md). Each tool below shows its **Mode** (**Read** runs immediately; **Write** asks your MCP client to confirm first) and the **Permission needed** for it to appear for your key — "None" means every connected key sees it.

## Tools

### `search_services`

List this channel's published bookable services with their length, providers, and intake questions.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `services:view`

### `check_service_availability`

List free start times for a service over the next days, optionally for one provider and group size.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `services:view`

### `get_service_bookings`

List a contact's upcoming service bookings.

**Mode:** Read · **Permission needed:** `services:view`

### `book_service`

Book a service for a contact at a free time (from check\_service\_availability).

**Mode:** Write · **Permission needed:** `services:edit`

### `reschedule_service_booking`

Move one of a contact's service bookings to another free time.

**Mode:** Write · **Permission needed:** `services:edit`

### `complete_service_booking`

Mark a service booking as completed after the visit and record the private visit notes.

**Mode:** Write · **Permission needed:** `services:edit`

## Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

* **A tool I expect isn't offered.** The MCP server only offers tools whose required permission your API key's owner holds, re-checked on every call. Grant the permission shown on the tool — see [Team](https://docs.xpressbot.org/workspace/team.md).
* **A Write tool never seems to run.** Your MCP client asks you to approve every Write tool call. Check for a pending approval prompt.
* **A call returns an error.** See [MCP errors](https://docs.xpressbot.org/api-reference/mcp/errors.md).
